In this freelance role, I provide production editing support across the Retail Week brand, including the website, magazine and daily newsletters. I also work on Retail Week's content marketing arm, from bespoke printed reports and white papers to online guides, digital briefings and native advertising features. As well as sub-editing in Adobe InDesign and Abacus Webvision, my role involves editing and building longform guides on the Shorthand platform, sending out newsletters via Marketo, briefing designers and managing the production desk in the production editor's absence.

I sub-edited news and analysis pieces for The Guardian website (theguardian.com/uk) using its content management system. My role required fact-checking, perfecting spelling and grammar, adhering to house style, selecting photos, writing headlines, captions and standfirsts, and ensuring legal approval before setting stories live.

As a freelance sub-editor at Harrods, I periodically worked across a range of consumer publications for the Knightsbridge department store, including Harrods Magazine, Harrods Man, Harrods Home & Property, Harrods Travel, Harrods Asia, Harrods Arabia and Harrods Estates. The role involved fact-checking and sub-editing copy in Adobe InDesign, writing creative headlines and page furniture, and taking in amends. I also sub-edited a range of CRM materials, including emails, posters, web copy, the Harrods App and other promotional communications.

As a freelance sub-editor for TI Media, I worked across several weekly women's magazines, including Woman, Woman's Own, Woman's Weekly, Chat and Pick Me Up. My role involved sub-editing and fact-checking copy on page, escalating pages for legal sign-off, writing page furniture and taking in amends to meet deadlines.

As a sub-editor at The Independent, The Independent on Sunday and i newspapers, my role involved sub-editing news, features, reviews and comment pieces for all three national newspapers and their supplements, using Adobe InCopy and Atex content management software. This role required speed, accuracy and attention to detail, as well as the ability to write engaging headlines. My staff role here ended when the print paper folded.

In this role, I sub-edited news, features and comment pieces using Adobe InDesign and content management software for the magazine and accompanying website, Drapersonline.com. I also provided cover for the production editor, including one six-week stint, which involved managing freelancers, chasing up copy and layouts to meet deadlines, and creating flatplans.

As chief sub-editor at Weight Watchers Magazine, a monthly newsstand and customer title published by River, I was responsible for the smooth workflow of the magazine from raw copy through to printed product. I managed two sub-editors, along with freelancers as required, and liaised with clients on a daily basis.

As senior sub-editor, my role involved sub-editing all pages of the magazine using Adobe InDesign, including success stories, recipes, fitness and health features, and writing advertorials as required.

As senior sub-editor, I frequently covered for the production editor, which involved managing freelancers and other staff members, as well as creating flatplans.

This role at an international exams board involved copy-editing and designing exam papers, syllabuses and promotional materials using Adobe InDesign and QuarkXpress. It also included proofreading and some print buying.

As a telephone interviewer, I conducted market research interviews with business and consumer respondents on subjects as diverse as IT, medicine, car insurance and entertainment. As a coding supervisor, I managed a team of coders and proofread verbatim responses for sense and accuracy.
